Getting rid of that pain… your first visit:
If it’s your first visit to Venture Chiropractic, for a condition such as back pain, you’ll need to give us some information about your presenting complaint, medical history and contact details. For the clinical examination it is recommended that a vest and shorts are worn, although gowns are provided.
A bit of paperwork:
It is a requirement to complete a New Patient form at reception before seeing the Chiropractor. This is to obtain personal details, medical history and relevant information on the presenting complaint(s).
Case history:
The first component of the Consultation is for the Chiropractor to obtain a comprehensive case history. This will be a series of questions about your presenting complaint and your medical history, including any X-Rays or scans taken. It will be useful to bring a list of all medications.
Examination:
A comprehensive examination consisting of postural analysis, functional assessments, and Chiropractic, Orthopaedic and Neurological test will be carried out in order to confirm a working diagnosis.
X-rays and other scans:
In the vast majority of cases there is no clinical need to refer for an X-Ray or MRI scan. The Chiropractor will let you know the relevant procedures if this is the case.
Report of finding:
After Case History and Examination has taken place, and unless further tests are necessary, the Chiropractor will give you a verbal ‘Report of Findings’ in order to explain the most likely cause of the presenting complaint. If the case is appropriate for manual treatment, a plan of management will be outlined to you, along with the benefits and risks of any treatment.
Home instructions:
Before leaving, you’ll be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be carried out at home. This may include ice or heat applications, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises.
